I am a professional chef and recipe developer. Having spent more than a decade as the Executive Chef for Bon Appetit Magazine, now I share delicious and dependable ideas for everyday kitchens.
Growing up in Iowa, I would roam my grandparent’s farm for hours. There, in fields and barns, I established an appreciation for the origin of food that remains essential in my cooking. When combined with the good fortune of education, travel and a curious-mind for creating, my love for food ignited.
My time at University of Wisconsin-Madison pursuing a journalism degree took me to Tuscany, then New York City, where the ability to write things technically let me explain a dish step-by-step to readers, eaters, and chefs alike.
Trained at the Institute of Culinary Education in Manhattan, then inside restaurant kitchens of New York and Philadelphia, I now live— and entertain— in a historic Pennsylvania town on Chew Street (yes, really).
My Chew Street kitchen is bustling with my husband, three children, friends and Costco bags (probably also a mouthguard or unfinished homework). Glad to have you join us too. I hope you find a recipe here that you love to make, or that simply makes making-it easier!
